The Rookery
About Us

The Rookery is located in Roughlee in the area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This area has a dark history and is a central location of The Pendle Witches. Alice Nutter herself lived in the village! The trials of The Pendle Witches in 1612 are among the most famous witch trials in English history, and the statue of Alice Nutter can be seen in the village. Follow in their trail and take a walk up Pendle Hill.

The Rookery is owned by Danielle and Ben and was built from the ground up in 2016. As a creative couple Danielle and Ben were inspired by places they had travelled and the unusual places they had stayed. They wanted to bring elements of rustic living and combine them with the industrial history of Lancashire.

The concept of The Rookery was to create a space that was unusual, interesting and not your typical holiday cottage. We wanted to build something that was a little outlandish but still had the luxury that most holiday makers want… by heck I think we have done it!

We are lucky to be surrounded by over 150 years of Industrial History within Lancashire, not to mention the beautiful Ribble Valley and nearby Yorkshire Dales. Inevitably all this comes with a deluge Footpaths, Parks, Bars, Pubs, Restaurants, Historical Landmarks and more.

The Rookery can sleep up to 6 people, including our secret hideaway room.

Patio area with BBQ which is perfect for al fresco dining, as well as a private 6-person hot tub.
