A guest enjoying his holiday

When we opened The Rookery Holiday Cottage in 2015 we still had our beloved beagle Alfie. As a dog lover living in Pendle, there was no question the cottage would be designed around being pet-friendly.

Alfie was Pendle’s number one fan! He would love his walks up Pendle Hill, or exploring the local villages of Roughlee, Newchurch and Barley.

To me, I wanted to share the love of our beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with all our lovely guests and their dogs. Well, we are well into Autumn now and these fells are getting pretty muddy.

In fact, it is Lancashire, it can be pretty muddy all year round!

Before retiring at the cottage, I hope all our visitors ensure they have a swift pint, or a Sunday roast at one of the four pet-friendly pubs that are in walking distance from The Rookery. You will struggle to find a punter without their dog in tow around here.

We want our guests and their lovely pets to relax. That is why our cottage is designed with muddy paws in mind. Our boot room is the perfect place to clean those paws, with dog towels and washing facilities provided. We have hard floors throughout and plenty of throws to make you best buddy’s as cosy as they can be!

After running around those Lancashire hills, maybe your dog just wants to snuggle up in front of the woodburner whilst you have a dip in the hot tub.
